Perhaps the trouble with music is its public nature.  It gets played in spaces where many people gather - or perhaps only a few, the actual numbers do not matter.   That makes it harder to be the only one in the room who "gets" whatever it is that's being played or, as the case may also be, who doesn't "get" it. 
Your reaction is yours alone and must be affirmed, acknowledged, inhabited.  It is precious; don't let it be drowned or drowned out by the noisy reactions of people around you.
